![]() leap entry 02/29/2004 = 06:48 PM We went to John Harvard's on Saturday. The restaurant itself is pretty nice. Good food; fresh ingredients treated with respect. Excellent service, in the person of a perky child named Martha who brought us (meaning him) lots of fresh hot bread with infused olive oil for dipping, and continued to refill the basket and the oil dish long after we (meaning he) had consumed far more of it than we (meaning he) necessarily needed. Their nut-brown ale was not on tap this weekend. They'll have it again by the middle of next week, I guess. So I had to drink five other beers instead. Oh, calm down. They offer a sampler of five two- or three-ounce glasses in a cute little holder. I love taprooms that do this (although I tend to prefer it if I can select the five beers that I'm sampling). I did enjoy the experience quite a bit. And at $5 for the sampler, not bad. One dollar per beer review. Presuming I get up to writing them all. And they (of course) sell stout glasses with their logo on them, and we (meaning he) had to buy four of them, because if one is good, four is better. Whatever. I drink stout. And a matching set is a nice thing to have, in case someone who gives a shit as to whether or not I have matched stout glasses comes over wanting to drink stout. Fucking Villanova. Grrr. Anyway. If I'm understanding the Blogmadness rules rightly, and I may not be, I think I might have just advanced to the semifinals. So, what does that mean? It means I now go against the Love - Winners - Round 5 loser. The winner of that match will advance to the finals. Please, for heaven's sake, read both entries before you even think of voting. Then, when you vote, vote for the one you like better, even if it isn't mine. Oh, you mean, what does that mean in the grand scheme of life, the universe, and everything? Not a bloody lot. Just feeding of the attention whore in me, that's all. Thank you to those of you who have voted. Especially since I never expected to get this far in the game. Well, it could have been worse. And it was a pretty interesting exercise, because I'm seeing some of the same artists (like Elvis Costello and Pink Floyd) pop up on some of the diaries I really love who did this same meme. Although I could have done without your knowing about the Gustav Holst. We won't discuss the Harry Connick, Jr. Just shut up now if you know what's good for you. Fuck me being-a-badass-punk-chick. Shut up, I said. Friday, we mixed three different
But it was fizzy. And lifting. And there was much rubbing together of palms and "bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!" mad-scientist snickering involved. So, yeah. Quotation of the week: "If you like the book, you'll like the movie." I love the word "bitchcake." Thanks, Quotemistress. I think she meant it as an insult to the people to whom she was referring, but if someone called me "bitchcake," I think I'd be flattered. Bitch. Plus cake. Yeah. I want to be a bitchcake. People who went away for a bit are now coming back, in dribs and drabs. Dat Sauce Guy just updated for the first time in nearly a year, and now Outfoxed is back too. I like Outfoxed. I'm still holding out for Aunt Mildred, though I haven't much hope. What is it about my bed that makes it so much more cozy five minutes before the alarm goes off than it is at bedtime? Yay! Big Bertha is in da house. Just don't open the door. She's ascairt of doors opening. The only person who has told me of having been asked whether or not he wanted same-sex marriages to be outlawed has been spritopias. And apparently, he gets asked a lot. Except that he said that he has been telling the askers that
* All formatting, including boldface and italics, are sprit's. He's a little bit crazy. But in that good way. (And he opened a Spritopias Reloaded page just so he'd have a place to park his extra buddies, and put me on it twice. Twice the attention in half the time; works for me.) But anyway. Where are the rest of the "American People" who said they "wanted" this amendment? C'mon and represent, yo. Spritopias' new parking lot reminded me that I wanted to tell people about Blogrolling, which I just discovered. Reasons I like Blogrolling:
Want to know something? If you're on any of my buddy lists, you're on my Blogroll. And if I'm on your buddy list, you're on my other Blogroll. So even if you don't want a Blogroll of your own, you should go to the Ping! site when you update and put your URL in, because when people go to my Blogrolls and see "NEW!", they'll click on you to see what you said. Fuck me pimping-my-peeps. That Man of Mine sings "Delete-delete-delete-leet-leet ..." to the tune of the Lone Ranger theme when he cleans out his inbox. Whereas I sing "Spam-spam-spam-spam-spam-spam-spam-spam" from Monty Python's Flying Circus. Can this marriage be saved? Michael Jackson shops at W@lm@art? Now I've heard everything. Trance did this thing in her diary where she went "virtual shopping", as in, picking out items she'd like to have, drooling copiously, then moving on with her life without making a purchase. This is a healthy thing to do. At least, I hope it is, because that's pretty much how I read every catalog that arrives in my mail. But anyway. She posted a picture of the office suite she wants. And it made me swoon. I want it, too. It's perfect.
I made a decision. I have never spent more than $60 on a desk (and that one came with a matching bookcase, or I'd never have spent that much). I said, "I am willing to spend up to $300 to get that gorgeous office suite." It's $2800.00. .:sniffle:. At least we have good taste? Got my Hetero-Lifemate on a little bit late last week, before she had to go to class. If you don't have a hetero lifemate, you should get one. Now. I'll wait. They cheer you up no end. Right now, she's helping Quietflames get hitched. The same Quietflames, incidentally, who hitched That Man of Mine and me. That Man of Mine is so jealous of Quietflames' Bear. Because he's only going to have to remember one wedding anniversary every four years. Chloroform sent me new brew cozies! They're quool as anything. Pictures coming soon. She also sent sea monkeys, though. I don't know how well that's going to work out. I kill poinsettias. I don't figure brine shrimp stand a chance in hell. Flowers for fastredcar. And cake for Lynnda, whose birthday I missed somehow.
Pancakes don't count? Who makes these rules? Upcheer. I love Get Fuzzy.
