Know what today is?

That's right. Seventy-three years ago today, Prohibition was repealed.

I'll drink to that.

Ack.

I've decided that, although I was born on this day in 1971, I am still thirty-four, but maybe a little bit thirty-five.

Please make sure you all go say happy birthday to Bud Buckley, who is my day-twin.

And, if you like me, go say thanks to the Mom, who had to go to the hospital in the snow and be induced because I was two weeks late.

Also huge. Nine pounds, thirteen ounces, which converts in metric to "Sweet Beefsteak Charlie, woman, how did you do that without a C-section?"

And I had a fever when I was born, so they took me away from her and made her go home without me for about a week. But she came back religiously to feed me and bond with me, and when I was better, she took me home, raised me, educated me, and supported me, and that's more celebration-worthy than my having made it through another year without winding up under a bus.

Happy My Birthday, Mom.

(Also, have no delusions about being the first to wish me joy in Avoiding the Bus ... D-Man, who might have got to today first because he's in New Zealand, was second, even though he hit it right after midnight his time. Because Cosmic sent an eCard at holydarkbatmanthirty yesterday morning our time, which made her first. I'm telling you. You gotta be quick, people.)
