I believe the doocing statute of limitations has run out on this story, since both the manager in question and I no longer work for the company at which this occurred.

Manager #1 (smugly): And you call yourself such a good speller.
Me: I never said I don't make mistakes from time to time. I always admit when I'm wrong, and I always fix it. Don't I?
Manager #2: I don't know. I've never seen you make a spelling mistake.
Me: Well, I do. And I will right now. Manager #1, please show me the mistake I made, and I'll fix it.
Manager #1: I've already fixed it. See? Right there.
Manager #2 (bursts into laughter): Manager #1, it's Rochester, not Ronchester. Were you upset because Golf Widow forgot the N? Because there isn't supposed to be one. Go in and take it out again.

This incident sort of bugged me, because I don't want to come across as a know-it-all, I just try to get things right the first time because I feel like people expect it of me.

Manager #2 said that I made Manager #1 feel stupid, but not because I was being a know-it-all - because Manager #1 was stupid and didn't like people finding this out, especially people he outranked.

Believe me, I am fully aware that not everybody thinks I'm as cute or as smart as my mother does.

And if I'm wrong, I'll own it.

But I did not say that Liberace had the only museum in Vegas. I said his was the main one.

Which, sorry to say, it is.

So I'm standing right the hell by my statement, no matter how many residents of Las Vegas yell "NOT TRUE!" at me like I'm a New York Times reporter spreading lies.
