I had extra Blingo tickets and a wretched week, plus That Man of Mine had guilt for having forgotten my camera on our trip, not to mention having said to me, "Lynnda's toga party or Tony Packo's — pick one" and then making me miss both, so we went to see Over the Hedge on Saturday. Lots of funny moments, but the best jokes, in my opinion, were Hammy (the squirrel) getting distracted by chocolate chip cookies (I feel you, my brutha) and William Shatner as the voice of Ozzie, the way-too-dramatic possum. By the way, a word to the wise, though it should go without saying, is that any establishment in a Connecticut mall, claiming to serve Texas barbecue, is not going to be anywhere near authentic. I'm not saying I really had high hopes, but I did expect it to at least remind me, somewhat, of barbecue. When the mashed potatoes have more flavor before you apply the gravy (which seems to consist of water that a chicken might have seen its reflection in, once), chances are that the recipes might need a bit of tweaking. Weird. If I'd've had to guess, I'd've said Beast. Oh, my stars and garters.
