You'll understand, I'm sure, why I insisted upon not posting this yesterday, when it happened.

Yeah. My cohost and his wife are fine, but they are, indeed, among the displaced.

Their cat was missing when he first contacted me, but Andy reported that he went back "to rescue the cat" when they were letting people back in to get belongings. He didn't say specifically that he got the cat, but I think he'd have mentioned specifically if he hadn't been able to.

April Fool's bites the serious on the butt every year. Last year, it was the Pope and Mitch Hedberg.

I knew, when I read Andy's hastily-dashed email to me, he wasn't playing me, but of course the date posed credibility issues both for him and for me.

What this means for them on a serious level, I couldn't say. He and his wife were in the process of looking for a new place. I guess this is fate giving a bit of a push. It looks like they're going to have more help moving than they had originally counted on.

They weren't on the third floor, so at the time, there was no water damage. He did say his ceiling had fallen through, so it's currently a complete mess.

I hope his action figures and flamey Skechers are okay.

They were supposed to leave for Vegas next Saturday. I don't know whether that's going to happen or not. They can't get into the apartment for another week anyway (the week they were going to be gone, in effect) and it's too late for a refund. I'd probably go on that basis, were it I, but I'd also not be able to have a properly good time, and it might ruin Vegas forever for me.

I already had a guest host lined up for the podcast (The Listener, my old Multiple Mentality producer) for next weekend. I'd have let The Listener know yesterday that I may need him for more episodes, but again, it's probably prudent that I left it till the safety of the 2nd.

I'm pretty sure he won't mind hanging with me for an extended engagement, as long as I'm the poor sucker who's doing all the production anyway.

Andy and I had an episode in the can, but we'll probably run it out of sequence, if at all. It's not terribly time sensitive, and I can't speak for everyone, but I myself am a lot more interested in hearing the perspective of a professional comedian ...

... about a residence which subsequently got destroyed by a freak weather occurrence ...

... on April Fool's Day.

I just really hate how many other people got displaced (and injured) by the Stand-Up gods who, in trying to give Andy a little extra material for his routine, really let things get out of hand.

I want to do a special episode all about this shit the second Andy's available and ready to joke about it. Paris Hilton's nortybits can wait.
