![]() thingie of love 01/05/2008 = 12:08 PM Not to be a whiny bitchette (okay, yes; totally to be a whiny bitchette) but today is the first day of 2008 that I haven't had to drink ginger ale like it was my job in order to keep from recycling the ol' Ramen. Yay migraines. I have nothing other than that to report. So here is a thingie that I gacked from The Clown Lady™, who in turn gacked it from Marvelous Meg. Gack it from me if you like, and if not, I will not be hunting you down unless, possibly, you have anything to eat that contains habañero which, for some reason, is the only foodstuff that sounds even faintly appetizing to me at the moment. I digress. (Dear Kimmy. I miss you. Stop with the writer's strike already.) (Dear Golf Widow. Stop with the parentheses already.) Okay, okay. Commence thingie. THINGS OF LOVE FROM 2007 Movie of Love: Hairspray. Zac Efron and the Eyelashes of Thunder. Plus Nikki Blonski, whom I still want to just smoosh, she is so damned cute. I'm sure this would have been overridden by Juno, had I gotten to see Juno in 2007, but I still haven't seen Juno, because I suck. Song of Love: Hey There Delilah by the Plain White Tees, but mostly because I thought my song of love for 2007 was Morse-Portnoy-George's cover of What Is Life, only to realize that that song actually happened to my heart at the end of 2006, so it doesn't count. More suck. Book of Love: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowling. A book. An event. A weekend of pure, unadulterated bliss, even though the ending was a bit pat. Album of Love: Wild Orchids by Steve Hackett. Released in 2006 but I didn't get it till 2007. If you've forgotten how much you liked Genesis before it turned into the Phil Collins Show, you might need this CD. Place of Love: AOC on Bleecker Street. It was French, it was gardeny, it was jazz on the speakers, it was great food, great friends, and the best iced coffee I have had before or since. Month of Love: April, just on account of its not being March, my least favorite month, anymore. Best Day of Love: That day in New York with my New York Peeps™. When was that, o trusty blog? Ah, yes. June 9th. Best Moment of Love: That Man of Mine telling me that he would have gotten me a two-by-four for our wooden anniversary if he hadn't been afraid I'd whack him with it. He never makes jokes, and when he does, they don't tend to be very funny. So that rocked the cute, hardcore. Word of Love: I'd wish that "shutupositories" existed in real life, if it weren't that, in order to administer treatment, I'd then need to brave the anuses (or is it ani?) of the people who needed them the most. Purchase of Love: I didn't spend much in 2007, because I couldn't afford to. I did, however, use a gift certificate to add some Jeff Dunham to That Man of Mine's collection, and it was a good investment. Jeff Dunham can cheer anyone up, unless they are afraid of ventriloquists. Damned Twilight Zone. City of Love: New York. I didn't really go anywhere else, due to high fuel costs. Is gas ever going to go back to something remotely resembling affordable? Food of Love: Speaking of habañero, the Wango Tango Barbecue Sauce, a bottle of which I got for the holidays from My Friend Who Isn't But Is Sort Of, is so. Freaking. Good. Beverage of Love: That iced coffee at AOC. Pressed, I believe. It actually tasted exactly as good as it smelled, which never happens to me, coffeewise. Person of Love (someone who made a difference for you this year): My beloved cousin Juma, who has made herself as at home in my life as if she'd been there all along. Spot of Love (the best place to go to just be): Oddly, it was I'll Take Manhattan, a delicatessen in Stratford that has outdoor tables. Get the Pentagon Salad (which is huge, you'll take a lot of it home) and just sit outside, eat, and read. Clothing Item of Love: My mother-in-law got me a dark plum colored sweatsuit. You can't understand how much you need clothing in that color if you're not the occasional nosebleed sort of person. Also, it's very soft, warm, and comfortable, so it would be nice even in white. (For a while, anyway.) Random Thing of Love (anything you want): The Wonderful World of Pork Chop. Start here, then watch all the other episodes. They're not very long. I wish something would flash "Oh, noes!" whenever I weigh myself. And that is all, until I feel a bit better.
