invasion of the blog snatchers

GW: We have similar tastes in good movies. Woody Allen standing in a movie line with Diane Keaton talking to the camera: "What do ya do in line with a guy like this?" I fell out of my chair! "Casablanca": I always catch some minor detail upon repeated watches. The emotion of the actors was real when Lazlo led the orchestra to drown out the Nazi's anthem and brings smoke to my eyes. Every time. Yes, "Somewhere in Time", I quite agree. :)

[When you do the Friday night movie, it's almost always something I enjoyed the hell out of. -- GW]

One of the most telling aspects of "Somewhere in Time" being a really good film is that your father loves it, despite not liking "that science fiction crap" or "mushy stuff."

[He loves the music too. It never ceases to amaze me.]

And, oh yeah, on those garlic romano fries and the dangers to your fingers: all you have to do is remember that, if TMOY doesn'g like something, he just eats it faster.

[He doesn't want to admit he's wrong, either. The other night, he ate a piece of my leftover quesadilla and said, "That was really good," and I said, "Really? It had olives on it," and he spent the next half hour asking me once every five minutes, "Are you sure there were olives on the piece I ate?" -- GW]

[For the longest time, you couldn't get a comment through at all; now you always send doubles. (I actually like this better. I don't know why.) -- GW]

Wow...someone who actually *knows* 'Somewhere in Time'! I've mentioned it and get blank stares! Love 'Dogma', 'Dead Again', 'MP&THG', and 'The Wizard of Oz'. The rest I have either not seen, or don't wish to. 'Dead Again' has also gotten blank stares; you've confirmed that I do like movies, just not what everyone else likes, heh.

Oh, just for shits and giggles, have a marvelous day!

[A note about Dead Again: I got asked out by a boy and he stood me up, so that was the movie I took myself to. It was the first time I'd gone to a movie alone. I got scared when I got home and there was a pair of scissors on the counter. -- GW]

I remember watching the Exorcist home alone one night when I was probably around 12-13 or so. WHOA!! I was freaked for days after that. It scared the crap out of me. Friday the 13th was usually more funny than scary (or as I call it 1001 ways to kill really stupid people). I like Horror where it is the plot not the effects or the gore. Poe is far more scary than any teen gore fest. (though the are good for making fun of)

[I know what you mean. I was more nervous after reading I Know What You Did Last Summer than I was after seeing the film. -- GW]

When I was young I wanted to find a dead body to poke with a stick.

[I think that was the only part of the story I didn't understand. Going on an adventure, getting away from family, being with friends, making up a story, that made sense. Seeing a corpse? I could totally have skipped that and been happy. -- GW]

The Wizard of Oz was the film my family watched once a year every single year of my childhood. Now I am dying to see Dead Again again. I did rent Gilbert Grape again recently & sobbed like a baby at the end like I do everytime. Stand by me = River Phoenix; enough said.

[I do purely adore finding out I'm not alone. -- GW]

It happened here recently. These kids found a crocodile corpse to poke a stick at. But when a parent went to check it out it turned out to be the body of a woman who had gone missing weeks ago.

She had kids.

Wow. Way to crash everyone's buzz, D-man...

[I know you want me to say that's horrible, and it is pretty gruesome; but if she were my family, I'd be relieved to at least have the closure. -- GW]

heh. i hated dogma. but everyone keeps telling me how good it is. but but but... i hated it. i only saw it once. so then i wonder, is there something wrong with me?
and why isn't juno on your list? i loved it. or or or... what was that movie? ghostworld. the one with scarlett johansson.

[Juno is almost too clever to be real. As you could see, I did love it enough to mention it after the fact, but I was in that fifteen minute time crunch.]

i've told my husband no before. no, get your own, i'll say.
he says, i just want a taste.
then i have to eat like a dog to get any.

[That Man of Mine is worse. He says he doesn't like whatever it is, then he won't admit he likes it. Best example: bleu cheese-stuffed olives. He claims to hate both bleu cheese and olives, but steals so many of mine I have to threaten him with the fork if he doesn't back off. -- GW]
